At the Court Square Reader CommentsBrooks Family Posted 8/19/2005 8:28:04 PM by Mr Brooks A. Batson Grandson of Independent Fred H. Brooks (Insurance, Court House Square, ~1934-76), I fondly recall sipping a nickle Coca Cola in the drugstore and enjoying the great Confederate Flagpole, which splendedly rose higher and to the right (outward) of the USA flag. As I recall, Brooks Insurance was kitty-corner to the theatre, about a block away. I am trying to discover Fred H. Brooks genealogy back to Battle of Savannah hero Brooks, my Great-great-grandfather, if anybody is so kind as to aid me -- GOD Bless you all and our Confederate heritage!
