I was born in Blakely and still have family there and to be able to look on the internet and see the town is really a treat. You did a very good job capturing Blakely's atmosphere and tranquility.
Great Work

I'm a 17 yr old youth of Blakely, GA. and I have to say, This small town does not have anything of interest to younger peoples. If it wasn't for Dothan, Ala. I would have gone crazy here.

Until the age of 19 I spent every holliday and summer in Blakely with my grandparents on Liberty Street. I'm sure it is still a very friendly town with good southern manners. I miss ya'll.

Just wanted to say i miss home and all my friends from high school! I am living out west and have not been back for 5 years, the web site looks great, but i think the high school should make bobcat hats and shirts available to us "old students"who still love the blue and gold! GO CATS!!!

Reuben White????
Posted 6/19/2006 4:35:31 PM by Richard Rogers

Looking for information on a Reuben White. Found land grant in family things dating 1820 to 150 acres in Early County. I understand that Early County was much larger then. Any information would be greatly apreciated.

Great pictures, I grew up some in Blakely and have nothing but fond memories of it. Sometimes if I have a hard day at work, I'll go to bed early and might dream of my younger years in such that quaint little town.
P.S. Someone take a picture or two of the Deep South Motel and place the photos on this site, my grandfather was the one who established it, and some of my childhood was spent around that place.

Hello board, it doesn't look like this board is too active. I have to agree with the 17 year old who posted, there is nothing to do in this town. The young people have absolutely nothing to do with their time. There is not even a move theater here, unless you count the live art thingee...and let’s be honest, no one wants to see that. Where are the skating rings? Where are the parks? Come on Blakely get with the program. Let’s invest in the kids. However, I do always enjoying coming home to visit friends and family. It’s a nice town to retire to.

Thankful

I grew up in Blakely. I am now 75 years old but will never forget the wonderful times and memories of this town and the people who lived there. Some may think there is nothing to do there when young but believe me in later years you will have fond memories of Blakely as I do. I know the advantage of growing up in a place like Blakely.

I miss Blakely and I think about it alot. There used to be a dance school on the square, but Miss. Patty reitred years ago. I like the school system there and I want to move back so badly. There were only two main problems 1) not enough good paying jobs and 2) not enough safe activites for young people. I hope to one day return as I miss the slower life.

Blakely is very nice place to visit and to live. Traffic control is monitored through out the city and it is nice to know when there are new visitors in town b/c we can weed out trouble makers who may present a problem oppose to a big city where visitors are not an issue. I do like that here. I was born and reared here in Blakely and since moving back here it has really build up. I would like to see a larger variety of shopping stores and other restaurants. The younger generation needs more extra-curricular activities to keep them off the street and out of the local newspaper. We do have a lack of activities for the children to participate in other than the Early County Rec Dept. which is good but our kids need more and more involvement with different ethnic groups. We are of One and we have to continuely build our community and home front. Hats off to the local Sheriff Department b/c we need you to continue to do what you are doing but we need the local government offices to participate with the community more. So that we can see that you are real people to. I love Early County and I pray that the 2055 will be a success for all of us here. WE need more diversity here even in the churches to reach the next level for our community. We have to be precise on our prayers. " So we fix our eyes not on what is een, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal: (2 Corinthians 4:18) May God Continuely to Bless each and everyone of you in this community.

My name is Dalmyra Price Caesar. I was raised in Blakely and still have tons of family members there. In January 06, my Aunt Lucy King Major was killed and I am looking to start doing an annual benefit in her honor which will benefit the youth of Blakely. I need information on how I can get this approved and started. Any help on the way forward would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
